Ed Cesena hears the music of his youth and projects these thoughts into his paintings. He was born and raised in the Mission district of San Francisco, this painter is known for his vast and vibrant array of award-winning artwork that spotlights the jazz and blues scene of the city's past musical superstars. Think Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Luis Armstrong, Miles Davis and more. These musical greats come to life in Ed Cesena' colorful, and free-spirited style.

He says he had a trumpet and wanted to be in a band, "but they told me to stick to art and never mind being a musician. So he paints. "I paint at 4 o'clock in the morning and 4 o'clock in the afternoon", he says that creative this creative process is benefiting his overall health and well-being.

For decades, Ed Cesena's paintings have been winning awards and earning honors in showcases around the region. Cesena is mostly self-taught and his signature style is abstract. He said that this style is all his own.
